This is part of a series called: A Bride’s Journey: From Saying Yes to I Do. We are following Jana every Tuesday leading up to her September wedding at Karma Vineyards.
Personally, I don’t care what we eat! I don’t have a very sophisticated palette anyways. I grew up loving dinners like the comforting grilled-cheese-and-tomato-soup meal or the rebellious pancakes-and-eggs-for-supper supper. When I asked Taylor what he thought, he used his favorite choice of pre-wedding responses: “whatever you want, dear.” When I spoke to Karma’s chef Brent, I expected to be read off a list of fancy marinated chickens and other gourmet options that would inevitably overwhelm me, but instead he told me, “I can pretty much make anything you want.” Jokingly, I said, “Okay, how about grilled cheese?”
Well, to him it was no joke! He said absolutely, and started rattling off ways of transforming the classic, beloved sandwich into a gourmet version of its former self. I was thrilled and felt like my individuality was being accommodated and appreciated. Taylor, being a grilled cheese connoisseur himself, loved the idea. Furthermore, I truly believe people will find it delicious and memorable. Most importantly, I feel like we are maintaining our identities throughout the aspects and details of our wedding, which is very important to us.
